What's New!!! : New Publishing Tools Added!
Doing a standard google search on the internet for tools and templates relating to Ezine publishers I was surprised to find that there werenât many out there. At least not free. Like most of you I like things that are free so I have added a few tools that I hope you can benefit from.
The publishing tools section was just added today.
Ezine Article Formatter: Previously known as the Article Text Formatter (I thought the new name sounded better) has been listed under resources for the last few weeks while the other tools were being developed. What it does is simple. It can format your text to a 60 character per line length needed for most Ezines. It looks so simple that you would think you wouldn't need it until the first time you put your ezine together with a manual return every 60 characters.
Text Ezine Templates: Ok, so there's only one at the moment. What this tool does is take all the formatting work out of your ezine. Simply fill in the boxes click submit and you have a fully formatted ezine ready for mail. Iâve also put up a download of the template as a zip file if you would rather input the information by hand. To get an idea of what the template looks like⦠your looking at it.
RSS Feed Generator: This is my first attempt in the RSS world but I think I nailed it. This is similar to the ezine generator. If youâve wanted to put an RSS feed on your site say to display your latest articles but donât know anything about RSS this form will come in handy. All you do is input the information you want and the form will format it into a compliant RSS Feed. All you have to do is save it and upload it to your web server and you have RSS. It's magic.
What I need
This is where I could use some help. Like the Text Ezine Generator I would like to do something similar with HTML Templates. If anyone has any HTML Ezine templates that they have written and own full copyright to and would like for me to put them up on the site please email me. I have all the coding for the generator I just need the template(s) to finish it. In exchange for this service you may either put a copyright tag in the template or a link to your site. Like a âThis template was made by your site hereâ or however you like. Itâs a win situation. You give others the chance to publish an ezine using your template and you also get to display your link in it for all to see.
If anyone has any suggestions pertaining to more publishing tools I would love to hear them. Also, I want to add some tools for writers as well, any suggestions would be appreciated.
On another note if you have submitted your article within the last month or so and have been wondering what happened to it Iâll explain.
First, our mailing system has a bug in it and some of the time, no most of the time it does not send out the article acceptance email like it should. We have planned a major site update that will fix the problem but are currently waiting till everything is ready.
Second, back in November we saw a dramatic rise in article submissions. Sadly this was not due to a new found popularity unless you would classify it as a popularity amongst spamers. On one day alone we received over 100x our normal load. Since then we have suspended the guilty user accounts and banned there corresponding IP addresses. After about a month or so the spam has gone down dramatically but it has left us with a huge backlog of articles. Simply deleting them isnât an option as the legitimate articles are listed with the spam, it is a painstaking process. So bare with us as we sort the good from the bad.
If you want to know if your article has been published all you have to do is login to your account and click on âView Articlesâ.
